Need Help Paying For An Abortion?

propaganda-for-life:

bebinn:

My post on two places you can find abortion funds has over 1,000 notes. It’s so amazing to know that more people now know about these resources.

So, I’m posting them again! Round two! If you know someone who might need this, or even if you just want to file it away for later, like it and pass it on!

The National Network of Abortion Funds can help you find a local abortion fund to help pay for an abortion you might not be able to afford.

The National Abortion Federation can help you find a clinic, funds, and information.

Signal boost, in case any of our followers need this.

Too many stupid people in the world

scarlett-grace:

Too many stupid people who insist on being ignorant. Who insist on living on falsehoods, who refuse to see the truth even when it’s right in front of their faces. How are we expected to live in a world of such ignorance and hatred, death and lies? It’s too much. People are too ignorant, and they’re making the world sick.

This is amusing, since it’s coming from someone who believes that abortion causes breast cancer despite the fact that the American Cancer Society has concluded that there is no scientific evidence that links breast cancer and abortion.

So, I was just trolled in the parking lot

This person was giving out pro-life stickers.

So, of course I refused to take that shit.

Then she called me a “Feticidist” pressumably in light of Lousiana’s new abortion bill that’s going to change the word ‘abortion’ to ‘feticide’. (Which I can’t find a link online, but basically, they’re trying to make it illegal and any ‘woman’ caught having an abortion will face up to 15 years in jail.)

So I just started laughing and they were giving me all sorts of strange looks. So they asked “You think it’s funny that you’re a murderer?”

So I said “No, I think it’s funny that you have to make up words for what you already are.” So they get this really disgusted look on their face, and go “I AM NOT A MURDERER!”

"Yeah? Tell that to the 70, 000 plus people who die every year - including, by the way, the cluster of cells that you care so much about, so that’s double murder - from unsafe abortions because people like you, made it unattainable or illegal."

Then they went on to shout that I’m a liar and a ‘FETICIDIST’ in the parking lot. People were giving us all sorts of looks.

Stay classy anti-choicers, stay classy.

[Trigger Warning] The House GOP’s Plan to Redefine Rape

rabbleprochoice:

corruptpolitics:

Rape is only really rape if it involves force. So says the new House Republican majority as it now moves to change abortion law.

For years, federal laws restricting the use of government funds to pay for abortions have included exemptions for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest. (Another exemption covers pregnancies that could endanger the life of the woman.) But the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” a bill with 173 mostly Republican co-sponsors that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has dubbed a top priority in the new Congress, contains a provision that would rewrite the rules to limit drastically the definition of rape and incest in these cases.

With this legislation, which was introduced last week by Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.)Republicans propose that the rape exemption be limited to “forcible rape.” This would rule out federal assistance for abortions in many rape cases, including instances of statutory rape, many of which are non-forcible. For example: If a 13-year-old girl is impregnated by a 24-year-old adult, she would no longer qualify to have Medicaid pay for an abortion. (Smith’s spokesman did not respond to a call and an email requesting comment.)

Given that the bill also would forbid the use of tax benefits to pay for abortions, that 13-year-old’s parents wouldn’t be allowed to use money from a tax-exempt health savings account (HSA) to pay for the procedure. They also wouldn’t be able to deduct the cost of the abortion or the cost of any insurance that paid for it as a medical expense.

There used to be a quasi-truce between the pro- and anti-choice forces on the issue of federal funding for abortion. Since 1976, federal law has prohibited the use of taxpayer dollars to pay for abortions except in the cases of rape, incest, and when the pregnancy endangers the life of the woman. But since last year, the anti-abortion side has become far more aggressive in challenging this compromise. They have been pushing to outlaw tax deductions for insurance plans that cover abortion, even if the abortion coverage is never used. The Smith bill represents a frontal attack on these long-standing exceptions.

This bill takes us back to a time when just saying ‘no’ wasn’t enough to qualify as rape,” says Steph Sterling, a lawyer and senior adviser to the National Women’s Law Center. Laurie Levenson, a former assistant US attorney and expert on criminal law at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, notes that the new bill’s authors are “using language that’s not particularly clear, and some people are going to lose protection.” Other types of rapes that would no longer be covered by the exemption include rapes in which the woman was drugged or given excessive amounts of alcohol, rapes of women with limited mental capacity, and many date rapes. “There are a lot of aspects of rape that are not included,” Levenson says.

As for the incest exception, the bill would only allow federally funded abortions if the woman is under 18.

The bill hasn’t been carefully constructed, Levenson notes. The term “forcible rape” is not defined in the federal criminal code, and the bill’s authors don’t offer their own definition. In some states, there is no legal definition of “forcible rape,” making it unclear whether any abortions would be covered by the rape exemption in those jurisdictions.

The main abortion-rights groups despise the Smith bill as a whole, but they are particularly outraged by its rape provisions. Tait Sye, a spokesman for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, calls the proposed changes “unacceptable.” Donna Crane, the policy director of NARAL Pro-Choice America, says that making the “already narrow exceptions for public funding of abortion care for rape and incest survivors even more restrictive” is “unbelievably cruel and heartless.”

“This bill goes far beyond current law,” says Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), a co-chair of the congressional pro-choice caucus. The “re-definition” of the rape exception “is only one element” of an “extreme” bill, she adds, citing other provisions in the law that pro-abortion rights groups believe would lead to the end of private health insurance coverage for abortion

“Somebody needs to look closely at this,” Levenson says. “This is a bill that could have a dramatic effect on women, and language is important. It sure sounds like somebody didn’t want [the exception to cover] all the different types of rape that are recognized under the law.”

Call your representatives IMMEDIATELY to let them know how disgusting you find this. I am at a loss for words. Both of my senators have gotten an earful and now I’m starting on my representatives. I had to write out what I was going to say first because the anger is making it impossible to form coherent thoughts right now.

Trigger Warning

Forcible rape?

Wouldn’t this also exclude cases of date rape, raped while someone is asleep/unconscious, or drunk. What about cases where resistance isn’t found because the person who is BEING RAPED is too scared or frightened to vocalize ‘No’. If they’re just laying there, is that rape? Not to mention cases where statutory rape is often given out as a lesser charge since the fuckers who run the legal system like to make ‘deals’ and throw justice out of the goddamn window half the time.

This is utter fucking bullshit. Rape survivors shouldn’t be punished for this. How about No Taxypayer Funding for Rapists Act? Or hell, a No Taxypayer Funding for Rape Culture Act? No Taxypayer Funding for Self-Induced Abortion Act.

Just Some Food for Thought…

patrioticconservative:

Just some food for thought… a sizable chunk of mothers that commit abortions, commit suicide within 10 years. The guilt of killing an innocent child is unbearable.

Hey look everyone! This is a really good example of exhibiting fallacy while simultaneously pretending to know what the fuck you’re talking about.

Now look what happens when you reply with something that disproves that!

Most women don’t regret abortions.

Invalidates this hogwash that doesn’t contain any credible sources or links. It’s disgusting how the only time ‘pro-life’ people tend to care about women who have abortions is when they believe that this new lie will back their argument against abortion. Suicide should be viewed as a preventable public health issue. Abortion is an individual’s choice to a medical procedure. Two extremely different situations that are not even related by definition. The only reason why they come up in the same argument, is because people like this, think they are similar and need to be stopped.

However, this is completely insulting to those who do commit suicide or have even attempted. Yes, the number for suicide is extremely high, but it is no way directly related to having an abortion.

According to the National Insititue of Mental Health:

Research shows that risk factors for suicide include:

  • depression and other mental disorders, or a substance-abuse disorder (often in combination with other mental disorders). More than 90 percent of people who die by suicide have these risk factors.2
  • prior suicide attempt
  • family history of mental disorder or substance abuse
  • family history of suicide
  • family violence, including physical or sexual abuse
  • firearms in the home,3 the method used in more than half of suicides
  • incarceration
  • exposure to the suicidal behavior of others, such as family members, peers, or media figures.2

No where does it state “Women who have abortion” in the known risk factors. Don’t believe me? Fine, go here and press CTRL + F. A nifty little box will pop up, type in abortion and press enter. What’s that?! 0 matches?! Oh shit! Who would have thought!

    Abortion Is Racist

    clitorisaurusrex:

    xkthxbaix:

“Thirty percent of abortions occur to non-Hispanic black women, 36% to non-Hispanic white women, 25% to Hispanic women and 9% to women of other races. “

Margaret Louise Sanger (Founder of Planned Parenthood)

“We do not want word to get out that we want to exterminate the Negro population”

“Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America. 78% of their clinics are in minority communities. Blacks make up 12% of the population, but 35% of the abortions in America. Are they being targeted? Isn’t that genocide? We are the only minority in America that is on the decline in population. If the current trend continues, by 2038 the black vote will be insignificant. Did you know that the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, was a devout racist who created the Negro Project designed to sterilize unknowing black women and others she deemed as undesirables of society? The founder of Planned Parenthood said, “Colored people are like human weeds and are to be exterminated.” Is her vision being fulfilled today?” quoted from blackgenocide.org

    Ahahahahaahaahahahahahahahahah

    I’m sorry, what?

    [-facepalm-]

Regardless of Sanger’s politics (which are not clearly represented above at all) it doesn’t matter. What was America founded on? Stolen land, and racism that nearly led to the extermination of Native-Americans. Is this something that is still prevalent into today’s society? No. We’re not at war with Native-Americans, we don’t refer to them as Savages, or Indians or any other racial slur. Christianity was founded on imperialism, fear, hatred, and mass slaughtering. Does that mean all present-day Christians share this tenant. Certainly not.

My point is that many things created by humans are imperfect, and with time, they change. Drastically. Pro-choicers, or me in the very least (but I’m sure it’s more than just me) are not racist. We are not encouraging black women to have abortions to secretly wipe out their race. We do not uphold these philiosphies and politics because we are not focused on race, but woman’s life and her choice. This is not a race-related issiue. This is a human right’s issue.

By the way, while white women obtain 60% of all abortions, their abortion rate is well below that of minority women. Black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are roughly 2 times as likely. However, areas of extreme poverty are shown to produce more children. Meaning these women already have children (About 60 percent of women are already mothers) An abortion means ‘an unintended pregnancy that the woman has decided to terminate’ not ‘BLACK PREGNANCY?! TERMINATE IT! TERMINATE IT!’ Honestly, that’s ridiculous.

This is a very drastic and desperate attempt by anti-abortionists so pro-choicers seem like the bad guy. The notion is not only absurd, it’s utterly insulting on a sexist AND racist level. Are you suggesting that black women do not have the intellectual understanding that racists are committing genocide on them? Or even the willpower to rebel against them? So wait who is the racist here? You, Mr. OP.
